The CreateLaunchConfiguration action lacked PassRole validation, allowing users to launch EC2 instances with unauthorized roles. AWS fixed the issue for both CreateLaunchConfiguration and CreateAutoScalingGroup actions, implementing proper PassRole validation when using the instance-id option.
