Integrate Portainer and Keycloak Identity and Access Management (IAM)

Managing users individually within Portainer works fine for small labs, but as your infrastructure grows, manual user management becomes a security risk and an administrative headache. To achieve true scalability and centralized control, you need a robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategy. In this guide, we will walk through the process of integrating Portainer with Keycloak using OpenID Connect (OIDC). Beyond just setting up Single S...

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in Open WebUI

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) enhances Large Language Model (LLM) responses by injecting relevant, external context into the prompt. Technically, this involves appending retrieved information to the user’s query before the LLM processes it.

Running GITLAB tests locally with Docker CE

The possibility to test integration on our projects when using Gitlab gives us a powerful testing tool to be sure that the code we submit to the repository will work as intended and wont break anything. The way that Gitlab does Continuous Integration (CI) tests is by using Docker containers that can be deployed at demand to test specific aspects of our project.

Simulate user activity with the GHOSTS framework: Client set-up and Timelines

In part I of our look into the GHOSTS framework, we managed to set up the GHOSTS servers on our computer and connect a simple Windows VM, running the client code, to the GHOSTS API server. The next step is to configure properly our Windows Client to simulate the activity of a real user. To do that we will set up multiple programs and tools that can be run automatically and define their behaviour.

Containers & Sandboxes through Linux Lenses

Most of us use Docker every day without knowing what’s happening under the surface. We treat it like a miniature virtual machine but, if you strip away the classical wrappers, you realize that a container isn’t a VM at all and doesn’t manage security the same way. In order to better understand these concepts, we will build a lightweight container and sandbox from scratch in C.

Apache : log real IP addresses behind a reverse proxy

It’s quite common now to run your web application behind a reverse proxy or a loadbalancer. This is typically the case if you are running your application in a Kubernetes cluster. In this case, the IP address that is logged by Apache is the IP of the proxy server, which is quite misleading and useless. To get Apache to log the real IP address of the clients, you will have to enable and configure the module remoteip.

New ways to run Kali Linux on Windows using WSL

Some time ago I wrote a blog about Installing Linux Bash Shell (and Metasploit) on Windows 10. This is great, when we want to enjoy the best of both worlds- keep using Windows, with its out-of-the-box configuration and set-up, and still be able to use the powerful tools available for the Linux distribution. In my previous blog I went through the steps necessary for setting up WSL and installing an Ubuntu and Kali Linux distribution. Since then, a...

Network boot for UEFI devices with iPXE

In a previous blog post, we have seen how PXE network boot works, and how to implement PXE boot for devices with a (classical) BIOS. For this purpose, we used SYSLINUX/PXELINUX. However, SYSLINUX/PXELINUX is usually not working well with modern UEFI devices. Hence in this blog post, we will show how to use iPXE to implement network boot for UEFI devices.
